The Syrian refugee Mohammad starts working for a hairdresser in Herzberg (Brandenburg, Elbe-Elster district) in 2016 through the job centre. On 31 August, the Lausitzer Rundschau reported: "Mohammad Hussain Rashwani is an example of how integration can work well". So good that he starts an affair with his boss Ilona. At home in Damascus, a wife and 2 children are waiting for family reunification.
On June 28, 2017 Mohammad tries to cut his girlfriend's throat open with a razor blade. He says that he wants to die with her and go to Allah. Another Syrian intervenes and saves Ilona's life.
The trial will begin in January 2018 at Cottbus Regional Court. In the same month, Mohammad is sentenced to 8 years in prison for attempted murder and grievous bodily harm.
