Honour killing story

Jara
born: 1999
Attempted murder: 16 June 2017
Place of residence: Lahn-Dill-Kreis / Boppard near Koblenz
Origin: Afghanistan
Children: ?
Perpetrator: her fiancé (22 y.)
Jara allegedly meets her fiancé in 2016 on the run from Afghanistan. Presumably, the parents will not have sent a 19-year-old to Germany alone. In February 2017, the couple "gets engaged" in an imams marriage in Boppard. The fiancé lives in a town in the Lahn-Dill district. The woman, whose real name is not known, lives in a room in Boppard. The Afghan stabbed his fiancée there on 16 June 2017. Jara is operated on, even a few days later she is not yet ready for questioning. The perpetrator is arrested on remand and denies the crime.

The trial begins in December 2017 at the Koblenz Regional Court. The defendant explains in good German that he studied dentistry for 3 semesters in Kabul. He found his fiancée on the day of the crime with a knife in her back and called the police.

The victim initially refuses to testify. Later she writes to the court that she had not seen the attacker at all. Which is an obvious lie. The public prosecutor initiates proceedings for unsworn false testimony. But he also says that he believes that the 19-year-old was put under massive pressure by her family. In March 2018 the offender is sentenced to 6 years and 9 months imprisonment.
