Saray is divorced and lives in Frankfurt-Bockenheim with 3 children. She probably has a relationship with Hayreddin from Erbach (near Darmstadt) who is known to the police and married. She has been missing since 20 August 2017. The mobile phone was last located near a swimming lake in Nieder-Roden (Offenbach).

The suspect is publicly wanted throughout Europe. 6 days after the crime he is arrested in Colmar (Alsace, France). The arrest warrant is based on suspicion of manslaughter. He is extradited to Germany. Presumably he is sent to a psychiatric ward. A daughter of the victim describes the perpetrator not as a life partner, but as a stalker. Twelve days after disappearing, Saray's body is found in a bird sanctuary near Münster (Darmstadt-Dieburg).
