A separated husband from Neustadt near Coburg lures his wife from a restaurant where she works. In front of the door he sticks a knife in her face.
Visitors of the restaurant call the emergency service. The woman is flown to a special clinic. The perpetrator flees at first, but is later arrested nearby. Police investigate the attempted murder. Abia is not the real name of the woman.
In January 2018 the trial for attempted murder begins at the Coburg Regional Court. It is known that the accused came to Germany at the age of 12. Nevertheless, he had himself translated by an interpreter. He was already married once. His first wife died, then he married his niece. The two have 2 children. She separates in 2014 and becomes more self-confident. Therefore she should be "beaten down", the accused describes his motive to the judge.
The wife has now filed for divorce, but she claims in court that she has the right to refuse to testify. At the end of January the perpetrator is sentenced to 9 years and 6 months imprisonment and compensation for pain and suffering for attempted murder.
