Azia comes from Afghanistan, where she was married at the age of 12. At the age of 15 and 18 she is pregnant and has 2 sons.
Her husband Hadi is 16 years older. From April 2016 the family will live in a refugee shelter in Cologne.
On 13 July 2016, Hadi stabbed his 23-year-old wife about 14 times. Both children are present at the crime. A roommate (40 years) comes to Azia's aid and is injured in the hand. The security service calls the police and the emergency doctor.
After an emergency operation, Azia is still in mortal danger. The perpetrator is arrested and remains silent. The children are taken into the care of the Child Services.
In February 2017, the attempted manslaughter trial at the Court of Cologne will begin. Hadi confesses to the crime and declares that his wife took a language course against his will, shopped alone and broke with the traditions of his homeland. Azia is not the right name for the woman.
In March Hadi is sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for attempted murder.
