beaten to death: 21/22 February 2017
Place of residence: Duisburg
Origin: Romania, possible Roma
Children: 2 (at act 2 and 7 y.)
Perpetrator: her husband (at act 45 y.)
On February 22, 2017, 2 alcoholized men (41, 49 y.) come to the police in Duisburg in the early morning hours and report about a murder. A husband killed his wife. The police find the body in an empty signal box.

In the evening the husband is arrested in the Duisburg apartment of a friend. He confesses the crime with an interpreter. Victims and perpetrators have "no permanent residence in Germany".

Nothing else is known, no names, no origin. It is therefore quite possible that this case is not an honour killing. It could also be the fatal outcome of a homeless fight.

In August the trial before the Duisburg Regional Court begins. It is said that the defendant had beaten his wife for hours while the children begged him to stop. He hit her with a wooden slat and jumped on her stomach. There is talk of tremendous brutality and an absolute will to kill. The woman - whose real name is unknown - died of internal bleeding. At the end of August the perpetrator is sentenced to 9 years and 2 months imprisonment for manslaughter. But it is supposed to be arranged in such a way that the perpetrator after 2 years in prison comes to a therapy facility and is released after further 2 years. The motive is a sick mixture of damaged honour and Alcoholic abuse.
