born: 1979
Assassinated: 29 January 2011
Residence: Lünen (NRW)
Origin: Turkey
Children: unclear
Perpetrators: her brother-in-law and ex-boyfriend Adem I. (34 years old) and Salia, the wife of her new lover
Yasemin is a gardener and has been married before. To get a residence permit in Germany, she married the brother of her boyfriend Adem in 2005. Adem takes advantage of her. In 2010 she distances herself from him. She moves into her own apartment in Lünen and starts a relationship with a man named Ibrahim K. This man is married and has children. His wife Salia hires a brawler together with the cheated ex-boyfriend. Apparently the men are supposed to rape Yasemin "to dishonor her" (this is what the prosecutor later says).
The plan will not be executed. Instead, Adem and Salia attack the victim on January 29, 2011 in Yasemin's apartment. They tie her up and take her to a garage to have her raped. Adem wanted to film the crime. But the men refused. Adem and Salia bring the victim back to the apartment and strangle her there.
Two days later Adem and two accomplices dump the naked body at a resting place on the highway in the Netherlands, where it is found on February 4. Yasemin's car is found later in Dortmund. Adem was arrested in May. Salia settles in Turkey in the summer. Her motive for the crime is probably revenge and jealousy. The ex-boyfriend, on the other hand, probably had an honor motive.
In December 2011 the trial will start before the Court of Dortmund. Adem is silent about the accusations. In March 2013, the perpetrator will be sentenced to life imprisonment. The particular seriousness of the guilt is noted. For the gang he sent to Yasemin's new friend, he has to pay Ibrahim 10,000 euros in compensation for inflicting bodily harm and causing pain. The defence will appeal. In March 2014, the Federal Supreme Court declares the verdict final. The accomplice Salia is still at large.
Four other men from Dortmund and Castrop-Rauxel are being tried before the Youth Chamber. They had knocked Yasemin's new lover unconscious on January 23rd. For this they will receive the following sentences in March 2012: 4 years and 6 months; 4 years; and 3 years and 3 months. One of them will be sentenced to one year's probation because of "mediation ".
