Perpetrator: her husband Abdul I. (aged 39 at the time of the crime)
On August 25, 2021, a Somali man goes after his wife, her mother and 2 neighbors at night with a knife. The 66-year-old mother is most seriously injured. The two neighbors (ages 43 and 46) were also injured.
The perpetrator is shot dead by the police. The deaths are not being investigated, so there will be no trial. The real names of those involved are not known.
There is a "family caregiver" who assures that the perpetrator was a kind-hearted person. The couple had children, how many is unclear.
What is an honour killing? |
An honour killing is a murder in the name of honour. If a brother murders his sister to restore family honour, it is an honour killing. According to activists, the most common reasons for honour killings are as the victim:
Human rights activists believe that 100,000 honour killings are carried out every year, most of which are not reported to the authorities and some are even deliberately covered up by the authorities themselves, for example because the perpetrators are good friends with local policemen, officials or politicians. Violence against girls and women remains a serious problem in Pakistan, India, Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Iran, Serbia and Turkey. |
