On the morning of Sept. 19, 2022, a dead Kurdish woman is found in Aurich-Popens in East Friesland. It is unclear whether she is from Turkey, Syria or Iraq. Her boyfriend is arrested at the scene. He is said to be a flight risk. This can be read as "danger of fleeing abroad, going into hiding to escape persecution." It is rumored that there was a threat even before the crime. The neighborhood is described as a problem area.
Family members are obstructing police work, which can be read as an indication that a Kurdish clan is involved. The names are not yet known.

An honour killing is a murder in the name of honour. If a brother murders his sister to restore family honour, it is an honour killing. According to activists, the most common reasons for honour killings are as the victim:
