An Iraqi citizen comes to Germany via Turkey and Greece. Since January 2016 he has been living in an asylum seekers' centre in Waffenbrunn. There he "falls in love" with a roommate. When she rejects him, he stabs her in the back on 20 June with a knife that gets stuck.
At the end of March 2017 the trial in the regional court of Regensburg for attempted murder begins. Later on, it "only" concerns serious bodily harm. The perpetrator is believed to be hospitalized in a psychiatric ward. This does not mean that there is no honour motive.
Alina is not the real name of the woman. She returns to Ukraine after the crime and is apparently not heard in court. Whether the perpetrator has a residence permit is unknown, as well as whether he was inconspicuous 3 years earlier.
