Possibly Arezoo came to Germany in 2015 with men and children with the large influx of refugees from Afghanistan. She separates from her husband, both live in Thuringia. Sharif's profession is indicated as a teacher. Because of violence against his wife there is a prohibition of approximation. When her daughter is treated for a serious liver disease in a Hamburg hospital, her mother moves to the Ronald McDonald house, which offers parents shelter in such cases. The father occasionally stays there as well.

Probably after a fight he stabbed his wife in the evening of 1 February 2017. He tries to cut her head off, but gives up. It is not known, but probably she said that she does not want to return to him and want to lead her own life.

After the crime, the perpetrator calls the ambulance. Arezoo is seriously injured in the hospital and gets emergency surgery. The perpetrator is arrested at the scene of the crime and placed in custody, a homicide squad investigates.

In July 2017 the trial for attempted murder begins at the Hamburg Regional Court. In November, the perpetrator is sentenced to 10 years imprisonment and compensation for pain and suffering for attempted murder and dangerous bodily injury.
