The kindergarten teacher Yasar lives together with her partner Mohamed and their toddler in a shelter for refugees in Essen. The family has applied for asylum.
On July 8, 2016, the child's father stabbed Yasar with 25 stitches - in front of the pupils waiting at a bus stop. The perpetrator flees. Passers-by take care of the child in the pram.
A little over an hour later, the armed perpetrator is arrested by a special team. Yasar survives seriously injured. The daughter is cared for by the Youth Care Office. A jealousy motive is suspected. The perpetrator probably did not respect his partner's wish to break up. More is not known, not even the real name of the woman.
At the beginning of 2017, the lawsuit will start at the District Court of Essen. The victim does not testify. In February Mohamed is sentenced to 9 years and one month imprisonment
